About Local 14
Plumbers Local 14 was
chartered on October 7, 1889. Our rich history is made up of
seven Northern New Jersey locals, 14, 49, 84, 124, 326, 334, and
523. The final merger took place in 1977. For
well over 100 years, we’ve been protecting
the health of our jurisdiction through our vigorous
apprentice and journeyman training programs.
Our signatory contractors employ Local 14 members in many different
construction applications. We work in the Pharmaceutical, Commercial, residential,
and heavy industrial sectors of the construction
industry.
Our
workforce takes pride in partnering with our signatory
contractors in providing sophisticated piping systems to the
end user. From underground installation to final connections
of fixtures and equipment, our plumbers are required to have
the attitude, as well as physical and mental skills necessary to get the job done
right the first time.
Our journeymen and apprentices are among the best trained
and highly skilled in
the world. We offer continuing education classes on a
regular basis to our journeymen to keep them at the
forefront of the plumbing industry.
Our members are required to graduate from the UA
Internationals certified and accredited Joint Apprenticeship
Training Program which produces the best Journeymen in the
industry. This 5-year apprenticeship program requires
an apprentice to have over 10,000 hours of on-the-job
training as well as over 1,300 hours of classroom education.
Upon graduation from the program our Apprentices can earn
anywhere from 30-60 credits towards a Bachelors degree.
Our Apprentices are taught by certified instructors which means that you have the most
qualified workforce at your disposal.
No matter how big or small the project, we promise a highly
skilled, drug free commitment to ensure the customer a job
that is on-time and on-budget.
We do it right the first time, so when owners and developers in
Northern New Jersey need to build new or expand existing facilities,
they can count on the members of Local 14.
